Softball Game Preview: McGregor Bulldogs vs. Troy Trojans

For the second straight game, McGregor will face off against Troy. The Bulldogs will challenge the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McGregor is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Troy a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.

McGregor is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Troy just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 2-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

For Troy's part, not much got past Isabella Garcia, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep McGregor off the board. Garcia has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ryleigh Amato was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Troy is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for McGregor, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 20-2.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McGregor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .460. However, it's not like Troy struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
