Soccer Game Preview: Cathedral vs. Riverside

The Cathedral Fighting Irish will face off against the Riverside Rangers at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Cathedral is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Bowie on Saturday. Both finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Riverside unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Socorro on Tuesday, falling 4-0. The Rangers haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

With that draw, Cathedral's record moves to 2-0-1. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Cathedral came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverside when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cathedral since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
