Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Bethlehem's Winning Streak

Bethlehem dropped their record down to 18-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Meade County Green Waves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles/Banshees of the 7-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Alexis Hume spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cam Mitchell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

As for Meade County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Meade County's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kaelyn Ledford gave up only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Kennedy Ledford was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Macie Fleenor, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Bethlehem has already played their next game, a 4-2 defeat against Ballard Memorial on the 26th. As for Meade County, they will welcome Breckinridge County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
