Villa Park and St. John Bosco squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Villa Park had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Braves by a score of 4-3. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Logan Hoppie was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Villa Park saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Gutierrez, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

Villa Park's defeat dropped their record down to 24-7. As for St. John Bosco, they pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road.
