Softball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Knights vs. Republic County Buffaloes

Sacred Heart is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Monday. They will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Republic County Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m.

Sacred Heart lost 10-2 to Concordia last Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Sacred Heart saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Edyn Sharpton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Republic County beat Lyons 13-8 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jacqalyn Parde, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Skocny, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Republic County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Republic County's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Sacred Heart, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Sacred Heart was able to grind out a solid win over Republic County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 10-6. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Buffaloes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
