Softball Recap: Weiser Wolverines vs. Jerome Tigers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Nampa Christian, Weiser was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Jerome Tigers. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Madi Janicek made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ellie Shirts was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Alli Navarrete, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Weiser now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Jerome, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Coincidentally, Weiser and Jerome will both be playing Moscow the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will head out to face the Bears at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
