Baseball Recap: Jackson City Wins Going Away Against Buckhorn

Jackson City never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Buckhorn Wildcats as they made off with a 10-0 win. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Caige Ellis made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Jackson City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-1 (and 6-10-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jacob Morgan was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Jackson City's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-11-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Buckhorn, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-19.

Looking ahead, Jackson City will square off against Red Bird at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Buckhorn has already played their next contest (against Jenkins), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
