Softball Recap: Newell-Fonda Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Newell-Fonda's offense. They fell just short of the Storm Lake Tornadoes by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in May.

The loss snapped Newell-Fonda's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-4 record. As for Storm Lake, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Newell-Fonda has already played their next contest, an 11-0 win against Collins-Maxwell on the 14th. As for Storm Lake, they will square off against Estherville Lincoln Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Midgets' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Tornadoes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
