Volleyball Recap: Wheatmore Comes Up Short

Wheatmore lost against Providence Grove back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Warriors came up short against the Patriots, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Warriors have suffered against the Patriots since September 20, 2022.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-12.

Alexis Holifield paced Wheatmore's offense, picking up ten kills. Holifield got some help from Lanie McMahan and her 16 assists. Finally, McMahan was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Wheatmore is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7. As for Providence Grove, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Wheatmore will face off against rival Trinity at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Providence Grove is set to challenge their familiar foe Thomasville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
