Baseball Game Preview: Prospect Ridge Academy Miners vs. The Academy Wildcats

For the second straight game, Prospect Ridge Academy will face off against The Academy. The Miners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Prospect Ridge Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Prospect Ridge Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against The Academy as they made off with a 13-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Miners considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Liam Schilling made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Prospect Ridge Academy is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Schilling was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Zeke Bote was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Prospect Ridge Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Isiac Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

The Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Prospect Ridge Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like The Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts.
