Basketball Recap: Walnut Wildcats vs. Ingomar Falcons
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Walnut can now relate to. They fell 70-60 to the Ingomar Falcons on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 65-43 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.
It was another big night for Macie Phifer, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards for Ingomar. Phifer's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Wray, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds.
Walnut's loss dropped their record down to 26-6. As for Ingomar, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 29-2.
Walnut does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ingomar, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-28 victory against New Site on the 20th.
