Baseball Game Preview: Dwyer Panthers vs. Viera Hawks

The Dwyer Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Viera Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dwyer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Dwyer is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Martin County by a score of 6-3. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Dom Pecoraro made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colten Stephens, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Dwyer: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Viera narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Melbourne 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Viera also got a great performance from Caden Jensen as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits.

On the hitting side, Zak Al-Arashi was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Brody Vogel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Dwyer's record is now 13-10. As for Viera, their record now sits at 18-9.

Everything went Dwyer's way against Viera in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Dwyer made off with an 8-0 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
