Softball Recap: Cecilia Bulldogs vs. Iota Bulldogs
Cecilia had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-22 to make it four. They lost 10-0 to Iota. Considering the last time Cecilia couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.
As for Iota, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.
For Iota's part, Haydyn Schexnayder made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Schexnayder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Iota got a massive performance out of Charli Sonnier, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Darbonne, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
While Cecilia had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Wednesday.
