Soccer Game Preview: Caprock vs. Amarillo

The Caprock Longhorns will face off against the Amarillo Sandies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Caprock comes in on five and Amarillo on three.

Caprock will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Monterey, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Longhorns came out on top in a nail-biter against the Plainsmen on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. Given Caprock's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Monterey are ranked 270th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Amarillo kept a clean sheet against Plainview on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

Caprock's win bumped their record up to 5-0-3. As for Amarillo, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2-1.

Caprock couldn't quite get it done against Amarillo in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 as they fell 2-0. Can the Longhorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
