Baseball Recap: Lakin Starts Season with Victory Against Southwestern Heights

Lakin had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Southwestern Heights Mustangs with a sharp 7-0 win. This was payback for the Broncs, who suffered a 16-15 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Eli Bemis was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Bemis was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jayden Johnson was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Gabe Cox was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Southwestern Heights fell to 4-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakin beat the Mustangs by a score of 11-0 later that day.
