Recap: Greencastle Tiger Cubs vs. North Putnam Cougars
It was a good run, but the Greencastle Tiger Cubs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 59-47 to North Putnam. Greencastle was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Putnam apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Greencastle's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexandra Dobbs, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Bailey Brown who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Dobbs has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madi Plew, who scored five points.
North Putnam found their leader in underclassman Melanie Davies, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davies has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Daigle, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Greencastle's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-12. As for North Putnam, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-10.
Greencastle will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monrovia at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. North Putnam won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Western Boone at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Western Boone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
