Two dominant guards in Claire Barber and Jasmine Nivar are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Green Level Gators will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Apex Friendship Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Green Level is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
Green Level will bounce into Friday's game after beating Panther Creek, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Green Level skirted past Panther Creek 49-47. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.
It was another big night for Barber, who went 10-for-17 on her way to 26 points. Stella Eckhart was another key player, going 6-for-12 en route to 12 points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Apex Friendship waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Golden Hawks as they made off with a 61-39 victory. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Green Level better keep an eye on Nivar. She was instrumental in Apex Friendship's win, almost dropping a double-double with 33 points and nine rebounds. Nivar's afternoon made it 26 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ailani Collazo, who posted two points and seven steals.
Apex Friendship smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Green Level's win bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Apex Friendship, their victory bumped their record up to 22-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Green Level has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Apex Friendship struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
