Football Recap: Boone County Comes Up Short

Boone County played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 49-3 loss at the hands of the Cooper Jaguars. The Rebels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

Keagan Maher had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 148 yards and three TDs on only eight carries for Cooper. The Jaguars are undefeated when Maher posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cam O'Hara, who threw for 167 yards and one touchdown on perfect 10-for-10 passing.

Boone County now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Cooper, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boone County will venture away from home to face off against Lloyd Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Juggernauts' defense has only allowed 14.7 points per game this season, so the Rebels' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Cooper, they are taking a road trip to challenge Simon Kenton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars will be up against the Pioneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.22 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
