Softball Game Preview: Burkburnett Bulldogs vs. Castleberry Lions

The Burkburnett Bulldogs will challenge the Castleberry Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Castleberry took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Burkburnett, who comes in off a win.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Burkburnett and Bridgeport had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Burkburnett blew past Bridgeport 9-3 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Bulls: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Tatum Winney, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Hailey Carter was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Winney wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Burkburnett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bridgeport only managed three hits.

Meanwhile, Castleberry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 15-3 to Springtown. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Josselyn Trejo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Castleberry's loss dropped their record down to 4-15-1. As for Burkburnett, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15.

Burkburnett was able to grind out a solid win over Castleberry in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, winning 6-2. Does Burkburnett have another victory up their sleeve, or will Castleberry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
