Baseball Game Preview: East Palestine Bulldogs vs. Brookfield Warriors

The East Palestine Bulldogs will take on the Brookfield Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East Palestine has three straight wins, Brookfield has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when East Palestine and Heartland Christian meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Lions 3-1.

Phoenix Marvin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Palestine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kealin Simon, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Brookfield came up short against Champion on Thursday and fell 7-2.

Brookfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for East Palestine, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. East Palestine has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brookfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

East Palestine beat Brookfield 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
