Two dominant signal callers in Jackson Stecher and Royce Jenkins are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lake Brantley Patriots will take on the Hagerty Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hagerty took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake Brantley, who comes in off a win.
Lake Brantley took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 43-7 victory over Tohopekaliga. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Patriots' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Tigers are ranked 281st).
Lake Brantley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Joseph Tesoriero, Caleb Reed, and Cody East picked up one apiece. Lake Brantley got some further help from Layden Canals: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Hagerty ended up a good deal behind Oviedo on Friday and lost 41-26. Despite 55 more yards than the Lions, the Huskies couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Lake Brantley will have to keep a close watch on Makiye McBurse and Greg (Tre) Weatherington III, a pair of players who had a big impact on Hagerty's prior game. McBurse picked up 101 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Weatherington III picked up 73 receiving yards and one score.
Even if they lost, Hagerty's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Gavin Miller with three. Another thorn in Oviedo's side was Ryan Davis, who picked up a sack, made 11 total tackles, and defended three passes.
Lake Brantley's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.5 points. As for Hagerty, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lake Brantley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hagerty struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 202.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Lake Brantley might still be hurting after the 32-6 loss they got from Hagerty when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Patriots, Porter Williams (who rushed for 145 yards and one TD while picking up 7.3 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
