Football Recap: Bullard Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Bullard had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost to the Clovis East Timberwolves on the road by a 26-7 margin. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 26th).

Even if they lost, Bullard's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Jayden King with two.

Jamie Spurgeon had a dynamite game For Clovis East., throwing for 260 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 117 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Those 260 passing yards gave Spurgeon a new career-high. A healthy portion of Spurgeon's aerial production (82 yards to be exact) went to James Drake.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bullard will head out to challenge Mayfair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clovis East, they will venture away from home to face off against Kingsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
