Baseball Game Preview: Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars vs. Greece Athena Trojans

The Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Greece Athena Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Honeoye Falls-Lima was able to grind out a solid victory over Batavia, taking the game 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Jacob Weber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jack Farabell was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Owen Kearney was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Greece Athena waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Blue Devils.

Greece Athena's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Honeoye Falls-Lima, their record now sits at 4-14.

Honeoye Falls-Lima beat Greece Athena 7-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
