Volleyball Recap: Sutton Takes a Loss

Sutton suffered their biggest loss since September 4th on Thursday. They came up short against the St. Cecilia Bluehawks, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bluehawks: they've now lost three in a row.

Sutton was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-17, 25-22.

Kamryn Steinhauer paced Sutton's offense, picking up five kills. Steinhauer got some help from Elsa Andersen and her 11 assists. Kyla Griess controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

St. Cecilia can attribute much of their success to Allyse Evans, who had 15 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Evans has posted over her last 11 matchups.

Sutton's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for St. Cecilia, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Sutton has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Fillmore Central on the 30th. As for St. Cecilia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Minden on the 27th.
