Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sunlake

With a playoff win on the line, Sunlake rose to the challenge on Saturday. They skirted past the Mitchell Mustangs 63-61. The victory was familiar territory for the Seahawks who have now won three games in a row.

Kaycie Hyde was her usual excellent self, putting up 21 points along with six steals and five boards. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cherity Powells, who posted 16 points and four steals.

Sunlake's win bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 20-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Sunlake will face off against Sickles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sickles is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. As for Mitchell, they will challenge Steinbrenner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Steinbrenner's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
