Basketball Recap: Grenada Comes Up Short

Grenada was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saltillo Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Tigers are ranked 50th).

When it comes to explaining why Grenada lost, don't look at Travis Wilks. Despite the final result, he went 11 of 22 en route to 27 points and five rebounds. The match was Wilks' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Guess, who posted six points and 15 rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saltillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Shannon, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Crayden Shannon, who had 13 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Grenada's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Saltillo, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Grenada wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-36 defeat against Olive Branch on the 9th. As for Saltillo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-42 loss against Center Hill on the 5th.
