Basketball Game Preview: New Home Leopards vs. New Deal Lions

The New Home Leopards will head out to challenge the New Deal Lions at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. New Home knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully New Deal likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, New Home strolled past Floydada with points to spare, taking the game 72-56. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Whirlwinds are ranked 492nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, New Deal's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt an 82-46 defeat at the hands of Floydada.

New Home's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for New Deal, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14.

Everything came up roses for New Home against New Deal when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 58-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Home since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
