Basketball Recap: Hammond Central Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wolves on Saturday. Hammond Central took a blow against Michigan City, falling 69-24. The game marked Hammond Central's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Hammond Central lost, don't look at Semaj Davis. Despite the final result, he posted six points and six rebounds. Bradley Scott also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Michigan City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nick Stewart out in front who had 13 points and five steals. What's more, Stewart also posted a 60% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was TQ Van Buren, who shot 75% from the field en route to 14 points and five boards.

Hammond Central is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for Michigan City, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Hammond Central will take on Lighthouse College Prep Academy in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Michigan City and Mishawaka will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
