Basketball Recap: Mylie Walton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Speedway over Park Tudor

If Speedway was riding high fresh off their 63-7 takedown of Christel House last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Speedway Sparkplugs took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Park Tudor Panthers on Tuesday. The contest marked the Sparkplugs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Several Sparkplugs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mylie Walton, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those six boards gave Walton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayli Clampitt, who put up five points and five rebounds.

Speedway dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Park Tudor, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Speedway will host Monrovia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Monrovia's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Park Tudor, they will take on Warren Central in a tournament on Thursday. Warren Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.
