Softball Recap: Westside Beats Fountain Inn for Their Fourth Straight Win

Westside came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Fountain Inn Fury by a score of 10-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-3 last Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Ryann Sanders, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Savanna Branch also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Westside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Westside's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Fountain Inn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will host Easley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fountain Inn, they will be playing at home against Southside at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.71 runs per game on average), something the Fury will no doubt try to take advantage of.
