Basketball Recap: Port Isabel Comes Up Short

Port Isabel extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-4. They took a blow against the Harlingen South Hawks, falling 61-9. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tarpons of the 72-28 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2019.

As for Harlingen South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8. The matchup marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

Allison Miller had another great game (as she tends to do), going 6-for-10 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. Her big performance that afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Reyna, who shot 83% from the field on her way to 10 points along with six boards and three steals.

Port Isabel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 21-14 defeat against Hanna on the 4th. As for Harlingen South, they have also already played their next contest, a 53-8 victory against San Benito on the 4th.
