Softball Game Preview: Montebello Oilers vs. Schurr Spartans

Montebello is 0-10 against Schurr since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Oilers are taking a road trip to take on the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Montebello was able to grind out a solid victory over San Gabriel, taking the game 8-5. That's two games straight that the Oilers have won by exactly three runs.

Meanwhile, Schurr waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Dons.

Schurr saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Romero, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Jenna Franklin was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Schurr pushed their record up to 12-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Montebello, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9.

Montebello might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Schurr in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Oilers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
