Basketball Recap: Point Loma Starts off Right with Win over Coronado + How To Watch

Point Loma had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Coronado Islanders with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 60-45. This was payback for the Pointers, who suffered a 65-54 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jax Marple had an outrageously good game as he posted 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2024. William Conquest was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Several Islanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Brown, who went 8-for-18 to rack up 20 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Aiden Roberts, who earned eight points along with 13 boards and four steals.

Looking ahead, Point Loma is taking a road trip to take on Hoover at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Coronado, they will be taking part in a tournament against Santana at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
