Baseball Recap: Falls Church Has No Trouble Against Rock Ridge

Falls Church never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Rock Ridge Phoenix with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won three matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Matthew Roeder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Stefin Schneider was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Falls Church's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Karl Hirz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Falls Church was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got Falls Church back to even at 3-3. As for Rock Ridge, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
