Community Christian suffers fifth straight loss at home

The Community Christian Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 17th straight loss. They fell 48-40 to Veritas Classical Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Community Christian in their matchups with Veritas Classical Academy: they've now lost four in a row.

Veritas Classical Academy had a senior duo take command as Wylie Montgomery scored 23 points and Ty Merrill scored 19 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Merrill has scored at least a third of Veritas Classical Academy's points.

Community Christian dropped their record down to 1-18 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.6 points per game. As for Veritas Classical Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.

Community Christian will head out on the road to square off against Harmony Science Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harmony Science Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Community Christian likes a good challenge. As for Veritas Classical Academy, they will be playing at home against Tekoa Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
