Basketball Recap: Lizzy Jernigan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hilltop Christian over Wilson Christian Academy

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hilltop Christian can now relate to. They took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilson Christian Academy on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Wilson Christian Academy this season, with their most recent defeat being a 38-30 loss back in January.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lizzy Jernigan, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jamie Lewis, who scored 13 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hilltop Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their first loss (out of 12 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Hilltop Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Wilson Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 24-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home.

Hilltop Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilson Christian Academy, they will take on Wilmington Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wilmington Christian Academy will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Wilson Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
