Football Recap: Summit Academy Piles Up the Points Against Providence Hall

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Summit Academy). They claimed a resounding 70-8 win over the Providence Hall Patriots. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Summit Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Preston MacKowiak, who threw for 210 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave MacKowiak a new career-high in passer rating (159.7). Another rusher making a difference was Liam Larson, who gained 155 total yards and a touchdown.

Summit Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Talin Hill and Ian Hall. Hall has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Tug Wilbur was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making seven total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Summit Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Providence Hall, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

When Summit Academy and Providence Hall next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Bears will try to stop Layton Christian Academy's five-game winning streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,065 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Providence Hall will square off against South Summit and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
