Baseball Recap: Proviso West Comes Up Short

Proviso West fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Berwyn/Cicero Morton on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Proviso West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mateo Quiroz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Proviso West's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-17.

Proviso West and Berwyn/Cicero Morton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 384th) will meet Lyons (ranked 44th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Berwyn/Cicero Morton will face off against Hinsdale Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (419 vs. 151).
