Baseball Game Preview: Burney Raiders vs. Dunsmuir Tigers

The Burney Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Dunsmuir Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Burney didn't have quite enough to beat Weed and fell 7-6. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kyle Noah put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Elliot Compton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Dunsmuir was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Weed, falling 17-0.

Burney's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Dunsmuir, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Burney took their win against Dunsmuir in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 23-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burney since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
