Softball Recap: Woodrow Wilson's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Woodrow Wilson came into Tuesday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Oak Hill Red Devils 10-9. Considering the Flying Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Aubrey Smallwood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Shailee Sexton was incredible, going 2-for-5 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Hadley Reott was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Woodrow Wilson's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Oak Hill, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-13.

Coming up, Woodrow Wilson will head out on the road to face off against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Flying Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. Oak Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
