Martin County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Perquimans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 7-6. The Gators' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Martin County's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 15-2. As for Perquimans, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

While Martin County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
