Baseball Recap: Brady Slinkard Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Palmer

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Scurry-Rosser, Grandview was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Palmer Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout. The Zebras have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Owen Moore made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

Moore wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brady Slinkard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Slinkard a new career-high.

Grandview's victory bumped their record up to 5-12-1. As for Palmer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11-1 record this season.

Grandview will have a chance to go back-to-back against Palmer: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
