Softball Recap: Woodgrove Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Woodgrove dropped their record down to 14-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Loudoun County Captains. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Captains earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Abbey Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Plazyk, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Loudoun County, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

On Loudoun County's side, Keira Bertoglio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Bertoglio has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abby Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Olivia Miller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Woodgrove beat Loudoun County by a score of 11-0 on Saturday.
