After flying high against Frost last Friday, Italy came back down to earth. The Gladiators fell just short of the Hico Tigers by a score of 14-13 on Tuesday. The Gladiators' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Charlea Padilla led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Addy Slovak was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.

Italy's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Hico, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Italy has already played their next contest, a 27-2 win against Meridian on the 4th. As for Hico, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-3 victory against Frost on the 4th.
