Baseball Recap: Scituate Triumphs

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Scituate and Mt. Pleasant, and Scituate kept the tradition alive. The Spartans walked away with an 8-3 win over the Kilties on Wednesday. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Kilties walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Scituate got a big performance out of Paul Zolkos, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was David Hanson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win got Scituate back to even at 2-2. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Scituate will challenge Ponaganset at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chieftains have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
