Softball Game Preview: Laguna Hills Hawks vs. Redlands East Valley Wildcats

The Laguna Hills Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Redlands East Valley Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laguna Hills is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Laguna Hills saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Castaic by a score of 8-7. Even though they lost, the Hawks' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Kennedy Patterson and Tabitha Kim did some serious damage despite the final result: Patterson scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Kim scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Patterson also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Kassidy Patterson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Redlands East Valley came up short against Riverside Prep on Monday and fell 6-3.

Isa Navarro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Grace Twente made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mele Wilson, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Redlands East Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. Laguna Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Laguna Hills might still be hurting after the 19-2 loss they got from Redlands East Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Laguna Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
