Among its defensive alums currently in the NFL are Geno Atkins (Bengals), Joey Bosa (Chargers) and Lamarcus Joyner (Rams).
But none of those Raiders' defenses played any better than the current lot.
St. Thomas Aquinas, playing a rare Monday night game due to Hurricane Irma issues over the last several weeks, allowed minus 31 yards offense on 38 plays in a 44-0 win over Stranahan (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
According to the
Miami Herald, the third-ranked Raiders shut out Stranahan (2-1) for the third straight time. The three points they've allowed in three games this season is tied for the second fewest allowed at the school in the last 50 years.
Defensive end
Nick Bonitto set the tone with a 21-yard fumble return for a touchdown on the third play of the game. Quarterbacks
Curt Casteel and
Kyle Engel each threw two touchdown passes to lead the offense.
The Raiders (3-0) now prepare for a cross-country trip to Arizona for a Friday game at Centennial (Peoria, Ariz.). The Coyotes are 5-0.
