Softball Recap: Airport Eagles vs. Colleton County Cougars
Colleton County typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Airport proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 6-3. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Cougars last Tuesday, they had to take a 5-1 loss.
Addie Maynor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Avery Ingram was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ariana Feliciano, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Airport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory made it two in a row for Airport and bumps their season record up to 15-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Colleton County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season.
