Basketball Recap: Dawson Springs Has No Trouble Against Christian Fellowship

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Dawson Springs's strategy against Christian Fellowship on Saturday. The Dawson Springs Panthers greeted the New Year with with a 71-57 victory over the Christian Fellowship Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 80-67 back in December of 2024.

Dawson Springs had a senior duo take command as Montgomery Johnston went 12 of 16 on his way to 28 points in addition to seven assists and six boards and Rex Blue dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnston has scored at least a third of Dawson Springs' points. Another player making a difference was Easton Bourland, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Dawson Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Dawson Springs now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Christian Fellowship, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Dawson Springs Panthers duke it out with the Livingston Central Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Christian Fellowship, they will square off against Marshall County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall County will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Christian Fellowship surely won't give up without a fight.
