Baseball Recap: Delphi Community Find Success

Delphi Community hadn't done well against Carroll recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Oracles walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Cougars. This was payback for the Oracles, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brett Huffman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Delphi Community: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Levi Coghill was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Delphi Community is undefeated when Coghill posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Xaine Tessier, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Delphi Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Delphi Community's record now sits at 4-6. As for Carroll, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Delphi Community will head out to challenge Pioneer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.7 runs per game on average), something the Oracles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Carroll, they will welcome Frontier at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
